A digipak is a printed card packaging that is often used for CDs and/or DVDs.

TEMPLATE:

The front and back panels of digipaks are the main promoters for the artist, this is usually because the audience tend to focus more on those panels. The back panel focuses more on the record label, extra information and barcode. The inside of the digipak is more used to provide information to the viewer as they often include the artist album/ tour/ social media platforms. The color scheme used to the front panel tends to be very eye-catching, vibrant and primer colors.

There are different folds in a digipak:

This font will then start to be associated with the band by their fanbase. The simplistic layout and colour scheme of this digipak suggests that the band has a great importance for the music on the album rather than the visual aesthetics of the digipak; this is something that is generally associated with the indie rock/alternative music genres. The simplicity of the cover is essential in establishing the bands identity as it suggests that they are not over the top and like to keep things easy and simple.

The grayscale is also used on the back cover where the song list is and also printed on the CD’s surface. The band members do not appear on the CD, however the name does, in the same font displayed on the front cover, but with a shiny, reflective black texture. Because the CD is matte black (or even dark grey), this makes the text stand out through its shininess.

In the images of the band are also done in the same sort of style as the album and 'THE 1975' writing at the bottom matches the writing on the album. They have a moody, grunge appearance

This digipak is similar to some shots of my music video. Its a quite abstract subject matter and gives a panoramic visual distortion for effect which is what I am trying to achieve in my music video. The post production editing and a use of eye-lens, furthermore, the use of worms eye view creates a floting feel which makes reference to how their music might impact their viewers.

Images featured withir the digipak are group shots which link to the narrative of the music video.

The top left image is also used within the magazine advertisient and features within the music video too, again linking all three products together. They used eye fish lens with a eye level shot and featured the main protagonist to seperate him from the gruop as portryed in the video. worms eye view. He is also looks straight at the camera which breaks the fourth wall and makes the audience even more engaged. It also emphasises how he is not one of them.

Above the track list the display there is a barcode and copyright smallprint, ready for sale in stores upon release. As well as this, like in the music video advertisment, they included the logos for their production compnies to gie credit to their institutions.

Throughout this whole album, they showcased their unique style by not always following the conventions of a alternative album cover but instead putting their own twist on it.

Conventionally, albums have either the name of the artist or the title of the album or both but on this album in the centre of the album cover, however in thi one its particularly secrative as it is displayed in the sides. For huge following artist this could be becuase the artist are already very identifibel persons and therefore they need their name on the front for people to recognie him/her/them.

Coldplay on their album made up the world Mylo Xyloto, therefore much of their album cover has evolved and revolves around this world. When asked about the alternative name they stated that in order for them to create a 'fresh’ album with a new sound they needed something that no one had ever heard, hence that made up word. Their album is themed around this sound and their album reflects this. The album title circle displays there in the center of the digipak for an eye-catching and dominant main theme. The unconventional title has been split into other lines, displaying almost a jumble of letters. The transparent text helps highlight the dramatic and colorful background. Uniquely the band's name is not featured upon the cover, this is unconventional in many ways however allows us to see how much star power the band actually has.

The cover underneath the CD and the back of the digipack are one of the same in that they are dramatic and colorful. The graffiti designs attract the audience's eye automatically. The back cover displays the songs within the album in the same white outline font as the front cover. The words sit over top a more blurred graffiti pattern and contains less words in order to pull docs towards the songs within the album. Overall this is an extremely effective digipak that is un-conventional, however, reflects the unique aspects of the ban. Coldplay. The lack of any band name shows the power of the band. People already know that it is Coldplay’s music. That is truly powerful.

The CD is a vital illusion within the Coldplay digipak. The bands lyrics circle the CD in a hypnotic fashion and sit as almost inspiring

Mylo Xyloto published in 2011 and with this album they started their new worldwide tour. The songs most listened where “Paradise” and “Every Teardrop is A Waterfall”

Xylobands were neon wristbands which they started to use as an innovative way of integrating the audience into the show.
